KRUEGER, Associate Professor of Economics in the CollegeA graduate of the University of Missouri, Mr. Krueger has been a member of the Universityof Chicago Faculty since 1932. His clarity and force as an expositor and his penetrating graspof economic and political processes have established him as a distinguished teacher in the socialsciences. In his classes, he conveys a rich and complex sense of the opportunities and responsibilities involved in democratic citizenship. As teacher, as chairman of a general course concerned with problems of public policy, as patient and resourceful adviser, he has devotedhimself unstintingly to the education of Chicago undergraduates for a quarter of a century.VIOLA MANDERFELD, Associate Professor in the College and in the Department of Germanic Languages and LiteraturesUpon graduation from Barnard College, Miss Manderfeld came to the University of Chicago for graduate study. Withthoroughness, zeal, and imagination she has launched hundreds of students in the study of theGerman language and literature.
