Heads of Women's houses, other than Miss Talbot.2. Three women officers of the University not heads ofhouses, these to be selected by the President and Dean ofWomen.3. Two students from each of the four divisions of womenin the University, namely, the Graduate Schools, School ofEducation, Senior Colleges, Junior Colleges. These to beelected by the students and the details to be arranged by theDean of Women.4. President and Secretary of the Y. W. C. A.5. Five ladies, wives of members of the faculties to beselected by the Dean of Women.Meeting of November 16— 1) Appointment of acommission on the organization of the Students'Club House, constituted as follows : Dr. J. W.Thompson, Chairman; Messrs. Hill, Iddings,Moncrief, Judson, Laughlin, and Capps ; the menof the student councils ; two representatives fromeach division of the University; a representativeof each of the men's houses, including the fraternity houses ; a representative of each studentclub. 2) Adoption of report of a committee onregulations governing student bodies in connection with debates. 3) Permission to the MusicalClub to present concert programmes not strictlymusical.The Board of the Christian Union :Meeting of October 4. — Withdrawal of thespecial designation of the first of the quarteras Congregation Sunday and of the requestfor the official attendance of the Deans at thisservice.2 UNIVERSITY RECORDThe Board of Affiliations :Meeting of October 5. — Acceptance of HighSchools for affiliation as follows : Denver, Col.;Atlanta, Ga., Girls High School; Elkhart, Ind.;Logansport, Ind.; South Bend, Ind.; Davenport,la.; Kansas City, Mo.; Macon, Mo.; St. Joseph,Mo.; Helena, Mont.Meeting of November 2. — Amendment of theagreement with affiliated colleges respecting theconferring of the University degree to this effect,that hereafter in order to receive the benefit ofthis agreement, students must have been registered in the college during the entire undergraduate course, and that the time occupied bythe undergraduate course shall not have been lessthan four full academic years.Meeting of December 7. — Report of a committeeto consider the question of accepting certainwork of schools so far as it goes, although it fallsshort of complete requirements for admissions,recommending that for the present the University does not recognize either three-year highschools, or individual departments, or teachers inany schools which have not been accepted as awhole.Moved that the Deans of the Junior and SeniorColleges be requested to require previous registrations of students in the University of Chicagowho purpose to spend a quarter or more in anaffiliated college, and to administer this registration in the matter of number and sequence ofcourses, etc., in accordance with our own customary regulations ; and that the faculty of theaffiliated college be requested tp cooperate in itsadministration of this requirement.The Board of Athletics and Physical Culture :Meeting of November 25. — 1) The University"C" conferred upon the following men, withindication of the number of times received :J. M. Sheldon, 3 ; O. E. Atwood, 2 ; C. G.Flanagan, 3 ; F. O. Horton, 2 ; J. G. McNab, 2 :E. E. Perkins, 2 ; G. H. Garry, 3. 2) The University "C" conferred upon the following men for the first time : C. S. Jennison, B. Straus, R. B.Kennedy, M. M. Beddall, F. A. Speik, P. M.Conrad, A. C. Ellsworth, L. W. Maxwell, J. J.Laird.The Board of Libraries, Laboratories, and Museums :Meeting of October 26. — Adoption of a reportof the committee on the new list of books forthe common use of certain departments.Meeting of November 24. — A request thatbooks and periodicals in Physiology, Physiological Chemistry, and Pharmacology be transferredfrom the Biological Library to the Departmental Libraries and kept by them permanently.Refused.The University Senate :Meeting of October 5. — 1) Letter of congratulation to Yale University ordered in answer to theinvitation received by the Universtiy to sendrepresentatives to the Bicentennial celebration.2) Vote upon a motion that after the ChapelExercises already announced for Monday, thedivision in the Junior Colleges for the ChapelAssembly be for the present made alphabetically.Postponed for one week at the request of fourSenators.Meeting of October 12. — Motion: "That theDivision in the Junior Colleges for the ChapelAssembly be for the present made by the Administrative Officers upon any principle other thanthe separation of the sexes." Lost.The University Council :Meeting of October 2. — 1) Adoption of thereport of the committee on the codification ofthe University statutes in a book entitled, TheRegulations of the University. 2) Adoption of thefollowing resolution : " On the retirement ofMr. George S. Goodspeed from the office of theUniversity Recorder, the Council desire to express their appreciation of his unfailing courtesyand their high estimate of the faithful, intelligent,and effective service he has rendered to the University."UNIVERSITY RECORD 3Meeting of December 7. — A communication fromthe Senior College Council asking permission tohold the Freshman presentation answered in thenegative.The Faculty of the Senior Colleges :Meeting of December 14. — Report of the Committee on the College of Commerce and Administration upon the following proposition that:"Henceforth two quarters of residence with complete work be required of any student for advanced standing except in the case of studentsfrom approved colleges, provided that in the caseof students who have been provisionally grantedtwenty-four or more Majors of advanced stand ing, the case may be presented to the Facultyduring the second quarter of residence."The Faculty of the Junior Colleges :Meeting of December /^.—Committee appointedto codify the past actions of this Faculty in casesof discipline, presenting an historical statementof actions taken in the past and a scheme of consistent action for the future.Recommended that Courses 166 and 163 in theDepartment of Literature in English be recognized as open to the Junior Colleges as electiveswith the condition of twelve Majors' credit required for Course 166.
