It forms part of the Teachers' Col­lege. and is to provide teachers ami super­visors with training in the various phasesof school hygiene and physical training.The professional course, demanding 'as arequisite two years of collegiate work,and covering two years of special workin physical education, will lead to thebachelor's diploma at Teachers' Collegeand with certain added courses to thedegree of Bachelor of Science from Col­umbia University,An interfraternity bowling league wasformed last night at the University ofWisconsin.A movement has been started at AnnArbor to compel the boarding house keep­ers to serve the students better milk.The Association of College Alumnze basestablished a traveling European fellow­ship to he given annually to the winnerof a competitive examination.The fellowship is only for women andcandidates must be graduates of collegesbelonging to the Association. The fel­lowship will be more readily bestowed onthose who are looking forward to positionsas teachers and to literary and scientificvocations. Theha�e -��\'�;"l �ld:ti�emade good basket-ball NEW CORRESPONDENCE WO R KSchool of Education Faculty Decides toOffer a Number of Courses For Non­Resident StudentsThe faculty of the School of Educationlast night passed resolutions providing fora number of courses which may he takenhy correspondence. This action is uniquefor several reasons and is also Significantof the advance which is being made incorrespondence study.The action is worthy of special noticefor two reasons. The first is that it gives- -te-.;chers who -are "riot in residence" anopportunity to take courses in the Uni­versity. Xo other large university in thecountry has a correspondence course tnits normal school. The University is tak­ing the initiative in a work which will beof great value to teachers in high schools,academies, and in the public grammarschools of the country.This is furthermore the first time 111the history of the University that a de­partmental school has decided to givecorrespondence courses. The correspond­ence courses which are offered at the pres­ent time are offered by departments, andthe idea originated with the department.The officers of the School of Educationproposed the following courses to be takenby correspondence: Education, includingpsychology and kindergarten theory; theteaching of history; the teaching of mathe­matics; the teaching of geography; theteaching of home_ economics; and speechand oral reading. This list will be aug­mented by further additions as the suc­cess of the plan warrants them.Hervey F. Mallory, secretary of theCorrespondence Study Department will or­ganize and have charge of the new courses.The correspondence department will ina few days announce three new coursesil) qUAlitative- analysis in chemistry. Thecredit for these courses will be threemajors.The registration in the correspondence.school of the University has been thelargest in the history of the school.
